The CALL of OUR ANCIENT ANCESTORS

Friday LECTURE
September 17, 2010

The ancient ancestors are still alive within the deepest ranges of our psyches and reach out to us with their ancient wisdom. C. G. Jung deeply valued the archaic levels of human consciousness and often encouraged his patients to make contact with the “the two-million-year-old” man or woman within.

He believed that “most of our difficulties come from losing contact with our instincts, with the age-old unforgotten wisdom stored up in us.”

He asserted that the way we make contact with the Ancient Ones is through our dreams. This presentation is an exploration of the dreams of modern Western-educated people in which the primordial and ancient wisdom makes itself known to us. It will include a discussion of “big dreams,” an introduction to the levels of the unconscious, as Jung sketched them, and offer archetypal images that belong to this range of Being. These ancient ancestral forces invoke an energy and perspective critically important to our lives today.

WISDOM of the PRIMORDIAL PSYCHE

Saturday WORKSHOP
September 18, 2010

This workshop is continuation and deepening of our exploration of the primal ancestors at work in the contemporary psyche. We will further examine dreams and the archetypal images that emerge in the dreams from these deeper levels of psyche. We will experientially touch into these primordial ranges through image, sound, and guided visualization. Stimulating and attending to the primordial psyche can offer amazing insights and energy as well as a sense of surprising renewal in our lives. Workshop participants are welcome to bring their own dreams that relate to this material and to the living reality of our primal ancestors and their ancient wisdom.

She has a long-term private practice and has worked creatively with both individuals and groups for over thirty years. Marea has developed a special expertise in working with dreams. She has also led sacred journeys and conferences invoking and exploring the divine feminine, the mysteries of the primal psyche, and the wisdom of indigenous cultures. In 1997 she led an extraordinary journey into a remote area of the Australian outback to engage in a profound experience of the “Aboriginal Dreamtime,” honoring the ancient ways of the Aboriginal people, camping on the red earth, learning the ancient story lines, singing and doing ritual with the Aboriginal elders.
